Our Story
Who We Are
-
Bilberry Creek Baptist Church was founded on September 23, 1984, as a church plant of the Ottawa Baptist Association. Several families stepped out in faith, leaving their home churches to serve the booming bilingual population of Orleans. At the time, the area spanned the Cumberland and Gloucester townships; we chose the name Bilberry Creek because it meandered through both, representing our mission to serve the entire community rather than one specific neighborhood.
-
Our journey began with a first service in a family home, followed by years of gathering in local schools like Dunning-Foubert and Our Lady of Wisdom. As our congregation grew, we purchased a small bungalow on Innes Road known as "Coté House." In a providential turn of events, a local developer seeking that land agreed to a swap, providing the church with our current, more spacious location on Charlemagne Boulevard.
-
We broke ground on our first building in 1994, and by 2004, we expanded again to add our current main sanctuary. This growth took place under the faithful 29-year ministry of our founding pastor, Don Collar. Upon his retirement, the church called Pastor Randy McCooeye, who has led our congregation since 2011.
-
Today, Bilberry Creek remains a blessed and growing community. We are a culturally diverse, Bible-believing congregation dedicated to honoring Jesus Christ and proclaiming Him as Lord and Saviour in our daily lives. Whether you are new to the area or seeking a spiritual home, there is a place for you here.
